SEPTEMBER 8 - 12, 2008
INTRODUCTION TO 2D/M-MODE ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY AND CARDIAC DOPPLER/COLOR
FLOW IMAGING COURSE - A HANDS-ON COURSE FOR PHYSICIANS &
SONOGRAPHERS. Provided by Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute for
Continuing Medical Education, St. Pete Beach, FL. At the completion
of the program the participant should be able to: identify and
analyze the basics of cardiac anatomy/physiology; perform a
routine 2D/M-Mode/Doppler (pulsed-wave, continuous wave and
Color Flow imaging) echocardiographic examination and appropriate
measurements; identify normal/abnormal characteristics of 2D
cardiac anatomy and explain the role of cardiac Doppler and
the necessary qualitative/quantitative measurements; discuss
the ultrasound findings associated with valvular heart disease,
cardiomyopathies, ischemic heart disease (CAD), pericardial
disease and cardiac masses; assess cardiac Doppler/color indications,
applications, normal/abnormal waveform characteristics, Doppler
measurements and color characteristics in the adult patient;
apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, under
supervised conditions, until an accepted level of proficiency
has been achieved; increase knowledge and confidence to perform
and/or interpret examinations. 40 AMA PRA Category I credits.
To register or for more information, visit Gulfcoast Ultrasound
Institute at www.gcus.com
or call 800-619-1900 or 727-363-4500.
SEPTEMBER 21 - 23, 2008 . . . ROCHESTER, MN
16TH ANNUAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY FOR THE SONOGRAPHER 2008: FOCUS ON ADULT ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY - This course is designed to provide the sonographer with a practical review of the current uses and limitations of two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler and color flow imaging int eh assessment of adult myocardial and valvular disease. Recent advances in the field of echocardiography including the assessment of systolic and diastolic function, quantitative Doppler, and stress echocardiography will be presented. The lectures will be illustrated with digital image presentations of clinical cases in echocardiography and time has been allowed for registrants to ask questions as well as interact closely with the course faculty. An audience response system will be used during case presentations. Up to 20.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. For more information and to register, please visit www.asecho.org or call 507-266-0677.
SEPTEMBER 25 - 28, 2008 . . . Orlando, FL
3RD ANNUAL - THE BEAT GOES ON - The Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes. For more information and to register please call 336-716-4505, visit www.wfubmc.edu/ultrasound, or email cmu@wfubmc.edu.
OCTOBER 6 - 10, 2008 . . . Winston-Salem, NC
ADULT ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY - The Adult Echocardiography courses provide an introduction to basic cardiac ultrasound techniques, including two-dimensional and m-mode echocardiography and spectral and color flow Doppler. A combined lexture and hands-on porcine heart dissection format provides coverage of relevant cardiac anatomy. An introduction to basic ultrasound and Doppler physics is followed by an overview of normal and abnormal patterns as well as quantitative analysis. Pathophysiology relevant to common cardiac diagnoses is covered in a systematic fashion. While brief overviews of advanced techniques such as transesophageal and stress echocardiography are provided, the emphasis is on fundamental and practical aspects of adult echocardiography. There are several interpretation workshops and a guided self-assessment section in an extensive syllabus with lecture summaries and reprints provided to each participant. Several small-group scanning labs are conducted using equipment from major manufacturers to provide practical "hands-on" experience. 41 CME credits. Center for Medical Ultrasound, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC. For more information and to register please call 336-716-4505, visit www.wfubmc.edu/ultrasound, or email cmu@wfubmc.edu.
