ABOUT ONLINE ACCREDITATION

The Online Accreditation application greatly improves the application process in many ways:

ONLINE FORMAT IS EXTREMELY USER-FRIENDLY

  • Online help is provided throughout the application
  • Most questions are linked to the related Standards
  • Progress of application completeness is tracked
  • Most of the application can be submitted without printing; most attachments can be submitted in either electronic or paper format, whichever is more convenient

  • APPLICATION DATA IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE

  • Data is retained and can be worked on consistently between accreditation cycles
  • Accessible from any Internet-based computer (allows work from laboratory and other offsite locations such as home offices, etc.), by multiple users
  • Upon application completion, data is transmitted efficiently to the ICANL

  • UPLOADING ATTACHMENTS TO ONLINE ACCREDITATION

ACCEPTABLE FILE FORMATS for upload to ICANL Online Accreditation:

      • .txt
      • .doc
      • .docx
      • .rtf
      • .tiff
      • .gif
      • .jpg
      • .jpeg
      • .png
      • .pdf
      • .xls
      • .xlsx

    PAPERLESS SUBMISSION

In an effort to streamline the accreditation process, the ICANL Accreditation application process is now available online. Applicant laboratories are required to upload and submit all protocols and attachments (i.e.: board certificates, medical licenses, radioactive materials licenses, etc.) electronically. (Note: Case study materials, i.e. reports, hard copy and CDs, must still be shipped to the ICANL office, in duplicate.)

The Online Accreditation application makes the uploading of electronic or scanned documents an easy process. Upon being prompted within the application for a specific document, the user simply clicks “browse," selects the appropriate document from their computer and then clicks “open." The document is then automatically uploaded to the correct location within the application. The following file formats can be uploaded: .txt, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .tif, .tiff, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .pdf, .xls, .xlsx, and .zip files. Documents with file extensions other than those listed above are not currently accepted. It is important to remember that the file size for each document must be less than 4 MB. This includes .zip files.

LABORATORIES IN NEED OF SCANNING SERVICES

It may be necessary for laboratory staff to scan some hard copy documents (i.e.: board certificates) in order to upload them into the application. If the laboratory does not have a scanner, documents can be scanned at local business services stores (e.g.: FedEx Kinko’s Office, etc.) and saved to a memory stick or CD to later upload into the application. The ICANL will offer the service of scanning hard copy documents for uploading into the application. For more information on the ICANL scanning service, please click here.

The ICANL is here to help. Fully staffed with clinical and administrative personnel, the ICANL staff is trained to guide you through the application process. Call 800-838-2110 or email today for assistance.
