ACCREDITATION IAC NEWSLETTER |
IAC NewsletterLetter From The CEO
|
|
We have been delighted with the positive feedback received so far on this new, integrated IAC Newsletter format. We hope you will continue to find the variety of articles published within this issue helpful as you strive to provide quality diagnostic imaging to your patients. Within this issue, noninvasive vascular laboratories will find an article discussing the inclusion of calf vein imaging as part of the standard venous duplex examination, as published by the ICAVL. The ICAEL provides guidance on the specific steps for ensuring the performance of complete transthoracic echocardiograms. While appropriateness criteria is a topic in the spotlight for all of diagnostic imaging, the ICANL focuses on how it relates to Spect MPI. With the development, implementation and maintenance of clearly written policies and procedures being paramount to the operation of a quality laboratory, the ICAMRL defines these critical documents and their specific importance within magnetic resonance imaging. Addressing the issue of risk versus benefit, the ICACTL looks at patient safety in conjunction with the use of CT imaging. |
As we briefly discussed in the last issue, the recent IAC merger has opened the door to opportunities for streamlining accreditation program policies, procedures and forms. IAC Chairman Rita Shugart, RN, RVT provides further details of the merger and what it means to participating laboratories, within the IAC Headlines section. Related to that concept, the recently revised IAC Accreditation Policies and Procedures are available online at www.intersocietal.org. Related articles discuss the obligations of accredited laboratories when it comes to maintaining compliance throughout accreditation and, specifically, the mechanism for reporting operational changes to the IAC.
The IAC greatly values input from participating laboratories. We always welcome your feedback and comments as we continue with our goal of producing a publication that meets the needs of your laboratory by sharing news from each of the IAC accrediting divisions.
