cardiac symptoms, if any, during the examination

summary of the results of the examination, including any pertinent
positive and negative findings
Procedure Volumes
While
the same recommended minimum procedure volumes exist (TTE: 600
per laboratory per year, 300 per staff per year; TEE: 50
per laboratory per year, 50 per staff per year; Stress:
100 per laboratory per year, 100 per staff per year),
the section now includes language explaining that while numerous
studies have confirmed that accuracy, performance and interpretation
of studies are all enhanced when high volumes are obtained,
the optimal numbers of studies that should be performed and
interpreted annually to maintain competence are unknown. Therefore,
laboratories with lower volumes than those recommended that
are otherwise compliant with the ICAEL Standards should
not be dissuaded from applying for accreditation.
You
are strongly encouraged to review the complete 2006 ICAEL
Standards, and in conjunction, make any necessary adjustments
to your laboratory's policies and protocols in order to reflect
the updated guidelines. If you have any questions regarding
the updated Standards or the accreditation process in
general, please contact the ICAEL office toll-free at 800-838-2110.
