Sandra
Katanick, Executive Director of the ICAEL, reflected, "It
is hard for many of us to believe that the ICAEL is celebrating
its tenth anniversary this year. When the ICAEL first began
in 1996, a small number of laboratories sought accreditation.
Ten years later, more than 1200 sites have earned this prestigious
recognition. The numbers continue to steadily increase with
the ICAEL currently receiving an average of 100 applications
per quarter."
"It
is wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate this significant
historical milestone for the ICAEL, one that reveals a degree
of strength and expertise that is only achievable over time,"
Katanick stated. "Starting off as a fledgling organization
in 1996, we have seen the ICAEL grow into the gold standard
of quality sought by all echocardiography laboratories in the
United States and Canada. We owe this success to the hard work
of our volunteers and staff over the past ten years and, most
importantly, to the echocardiography community for embracing
and participating in the concept of accreditation. I'm very
proud of the past, but I'm even more excited about the years
to come for the ICAEL and the impact we will have on the lives
of thousands of patients through improved care."
