Whether
seeking first-time accreditation or preparing for reaccreditation,
the Electronic Application will offer numerous benefits to your
laboratory. The Electronic Application makes completion of the
application easier to understand and accomplish. For example,
questions requesting narrative answers have been eliminated
throughout the application. This change is illustrated in the
Organization section of the application, where a series
of yes/no and multiple choice questions now replace the previous
request that staff members provide a description of their training
and experience.
| The
new format eliminates the subjective nature of several questions
contained throughout previous versions of the application
and ensures that staff members will be able to provide thorough
information with as much ease as possible.
Any
unanswered questions are clearly marked in printed versions
of the application, and may be used to present staff members
with a clear view of what must be completed before submitting
the application. Wherever possible, the Electronic Application
also eliminates the need to re-enter repetitive data. For
example, staff member names need only be entered one time.
Once entered, names automatically appear in the appropriate
places throughout the rest of the document. |

The
Electronic Application also assists staff members in preparing
necessary attachments. At the end of each section of the application,
an attachment checklist guides staff in preparing and labeling
the extra documents that must accompany the application.
Ultimately,
one of the greatest benefits of the Electronic Application is
that it dramatically simplifies the reaccreditation process.
When the time comes to apply for reaccreditation, laboratories
need only incorporate updated information regarding the changes
that have occurred since their previous application.
If
your laboratory is unable to meet the minimal system requirements
described in the CD Booklet enclosed with the CD, please contact
us. We will assess your needs and provide you with an alternate
method to apply for accreditation.
