THOM W. ROOKE, MD, RVT
ASSUMES THE ICAVL PRESIDENCY

At the Winter 2007 Board meeting in February, Thom W. Rooke, MD, RVT assumed the role of President of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Rooke has been a member of the ICAVL Board since 1997, representing the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology. He is the John & Posy Krehbiel Professor and Section Head of Vascular Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Upon earning degrees from the University of Michigan and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he then completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Rooke serves on a number of national boards, committees, and societies.

Reflecting on his goals as he begins his presidential term, Dr. Rooke stated, "Vascular laboratories are subject to unpredictable actions by Congress, CMS, major insurance carriers, and other forces beyond our control. Like the laboratories it serves, ICAVL needs to be flexible so it can adjust and adapt to these changing demands. Over the next two years I hope to enhance this flexibility by reorganizing and streamlining the relationships with our parent company, IAC, and with our sister organizations, ICACTL, ICAEL, ICAMRL, and ICANL."
