Understanding Your New Application Version 3.0
WHAT'S NEW? WHAT'S DIFFERENT? HOW DO I USE IT?

from the January 2006 issue

Throughout the process of updating the application, the ICAVL Board Of Directors and staff considered comments received from laboratory personnel as well as feedback compiled from the results of two surveys completed by currently accredited laboratories, laboratories that have purchased the application materials but have not yet applied, and the small percentage of laboratories who have not currently applied for reaccreditation. In an effort to streamline the application yet maintain the integrity of the accreditation process, careful thought was given to the content and the requirements necessary to adequately assess the laboratory staff and functions. The following is a summary of several changes and enhancements made to the application. The ICAVL anticipates that you will find these advancements a valuable modification to the accreditation process.

CONVERTING PREVIOUSLY ENTERED INFORMATION

  • If you have previously entered information into the application, you will be able to automatically convert the subsequent information without re-entering data by backing up your old data and installing the new version of the application.

APPLICATION CONTENT

  • Several questions and tables have been eliminated from the application, maintaining the most pertinent questions and reducing the amount of replicated data or information not directly related the ICAVL Standards.

  • A new application section has been added for the accreditation of vascular screening examinations.

  • Some of the questions in the application will automatically alert the user when the information entered does not meet the coinciding standard (fig. 1).

  • Updated case study submission guidelines and attachment lists are included.

ADDED FUNCTIONS

On the main menu of the application, you will find some additional options to assist you in maintaining and completing the application.

  • EDIT / ADD ATTACHMENTS - This feature (fig. 2) will allow the user to embed digital copies of any attachment documents into the application. Once embedded into the application, the documents can be edited at any time. The intent is to provide the user with the ability to maintain and store all protocols, policies, statistics and other accreditation documentation in conjunction with the application. Please note that two copies of these documents must still be printed and submitted with the application.
