Proposed Standards for New Deep Venous Accreditation Program Now Open for 30-Day Public Comment

IAC announces the opportunity to comment on the proposed IAC Standards and Guidelines for Vein Center Accreditation: Deep Venous, prior to final publication in concert with the launch of the new accreditation program. Beginning March 15, 2021, the public may visit the IAC website to comment on any of the proposed Standards until April 15, 2021.

To Submit a Comment on Proposed Standards:

  • Visit the IAC website at intersocietal.org/iac/comment_period.htm or click below.
  • To review the proposed Standards, select any of the PDFs available for download to view the proposed Standards for that section.
  • Scroll down and click on the section of the Standards that you wish to comment on.
  • A list of the Standards available for comment is listed on the left. From the drop-down menu on the right, select the Standard Section you wish to comment on.
  • In the boxes provided, fill in your name and type in your comment for that section.
  • Hit Submit.

Review Standards / Submit A Comment»

At the close of the comment period, the IAC Vein Center Board of Directors will review all submitted comments, consider modifications as needed and vote for final approval of the Standards.

The new Standards will be posted to the IAC Vein Center when they are published later in 2021.

IAC Releases Updates to Standards & Guidelines for Vein Center Accreditation - New Standards Effective Immediately

OCTOBER 1, 2020 | As an accreditation organization, IAC Vein Center is committed to maintaining a program that balances the changing needs of both the vein center community and the general public by influencing the quality of patient care provided. The IAC Standards and Guidelines for Vein Center Accreditation are the most important component of that commitment. Composed by physicians, nurses and technologists from the IAC Vein Center sponsoring organizations, the Standards are reviewed periodically by the Board of Directors and revised as needed.

As a component of the accreditation process, the IAC Vein Center Board of Directors preliminarily approved the proposed Standards which were recently posted to the IAC website for a 60-day public comment period.

Key Revisions to the Standards

Key modifications or additions are shown in the current Standards in highlighting and include:

  • Medical Director Required Training and Experience (Applicable Standard 1.1.1A)
  • Medical Staff Required Training and Experience (Applicable Standard 1.2.1A)
  • Advanced Practice Provider Required Training and Experience (Applicable Standard 1.3.1A)

Standards that are highlighted are content changes that were made as part of the October 1, 2020 revision. These Standards become effective immediately. Facilities applying for accreditation after October 1, 2020 must comply with these new highlighted Standards.

JUNE 15, 2020 | In keeping with the IAC's continued commitment to streamlining and simplifying the accreditation process, we are pleased to announce that the public has the opportunity to comment on proposed changes to the IAC Standards & Guidelines for Vein Center Accreditation.

The Standards are reviewed periodically by the IAC Vein Center Board of Directors and revised as needed. As a component to the accreditation process, proposed Standards that have been approved by the Board of Directors are then posted to the IAC website for a 60-day public comment period. These proposed Standards include changes to the current Standards and/or the addition of new Standards.

To Submit a Comment on Proposed Standards:

  1. Visit the IAC comment period website at intersocietal.org/iac/comment _period.htm#vein;
  2. Select the proposed Vein Center Standard you wish to comment on;
  3. A window will expand with the description of the existing Standard and the proposed change on the left;
  4. Click on the link to open a PDF containing the existing Standard language or the proposed revisions to the existing Standards (proposed changes are shown in the PDF as highlighting);
  5. On the right, fill in your name and comment in the boxes provided;
  6. Hit Submit.

At the close of the comment period, the IAC Vein Center Board of Directors will review all submitted comments, consider modifications as needed and vote for final approval of the Standards. The approved Standards will be posted to the IAC Vein Center website and available for download at intersocietal.org/vein/seeking/vein_standards.htm.

Proposed Changes to IAC Vein Center Standards to be Revised and Reposted for Public Comment Period

APRIL 18, 2019 | On February 15, 2019, the IAC posted several proposed revisions to the IAC Standards & Guidelines for Vein Center Accreditation for a 60-day public comment period. After receiving numerous comments and feedback on the proposed additions to the required training and experience pathway for Advanced Practice Providers performing ambulatory phlebectomy with tumescent anesthesia, the IAC will make additional revisions to this important Standard to better serve the vein center community. A revision to Advanced Practice Providers performing ambulatory phlebectomy with tumescent anesthesia and new Advanced Practice Providers training and experience pathways will be developed. A new comment period will be announced in the coming weeks.
